José Manuel Cayuela

8 de October de 2024

The fourth stage was already at its halfway point. Two cyclists were at the head of the peloton: a slim and recognizable figure, all class on the bike, Luis León Sánchez; and another less usual rider in that race situation: bib number 199.

Quickly, everyone looked at the list of participants and searched for whom that unexpected bib belonged to. The name was José Manuel Cayuela, who finished the Škoda Titan Desert Almería in 62nd position in the GC.

Cayuela is a cyclist who has been involved in road, mountainbike and cyclo-cross races. However, he is a Titan World Series rookie and yesterday he was one of the big names of the day.

When Luis León Sánchez got a flat tire, José Manuel was the best representative of what we call Titan spirit. He gave his wheel to ‘Luisle’ without hesitation and patched it as well as he could to reach the finish line.

An incredible gesture that today the rider from Murcia wanted to reward by trying to take Cayuela to the finish line and give him the victory, although he could only do it for about 40-50 kilometers.

Today, José Manuel Cayuela has achieved two things: to make everyone check their lists to find out who that mysterious 199 was and to become a Titan in his own right. Although yesterday, with his gesture of selflessness and care, he already showed that he had everything we say a Titan has inside him.
