Javier Floreal

6 de October de 2024

What is stopping you from becoming a Titan? What is the incentive you need to take the step to come?

Javier Floreal could have been stopped by many things. He has had kidney problems since he was 5 years old and at the age of 29 he was between life and death: a month in a coma and three cardiorespiratory arrests. As a result, he had a kidney removed and lives between dialysis sessions. Two weeks before the operation and admission, he had just started mountain biking.

None of this has stopped him, and not only that, but it has also been an incentive: “The possibility that a person in my condition has to compete in a race of this type has an expiration date. I live day by day,” he explains.

Javier is representing Titan Deja Huella, a team that seeks to give visibility to transplant recipients and donors. There he has found the opportunity to put on a bib in the Škoda Titan Desert Almería. “When they contacted me I talked it over with my wife and she told me to go ahead, that if that’s what I wanted to do, I should do it. She is my great support.

And here she is today giving a voice to people undergoing dialysis treatment, showing what they are capable of: “I never thought I could be here. In the first stage I was already excited and when I think about getting to the end… that’s going to be a party. It’s so important to me…”.
